First Anniversary
of the Philippine Executive Commission
2c Surcharged 1941 Airmail Stamp 23 January 1943 This ExeCom FDC may have been intentionally short-paid so that a postage due stamp may be affixed and cancelled with a blue-green special postmark. |
Note the penciled request under the postage due stamp asking that a cachet ink pad be used for its cancellation. |
Provisional
Issues
1. 2-Centavos Provisional Issue Overprinted on 2c 1941 Regular Issue 2. 16-Centavos Provisional Issue Overprinted on 16c 1938 Regular Issue 4 March 1942 After March 4, the Manila registry marking with 'No.' before its dotted line was employed exclusively as a registry marking and not as a cancel as shown. The cover is overpaid by 2-Centavos because a registered letter needs only a total of 18c to cover the 2c first class rate and the 16c registry fee. |
